		<description>On one hand, bacon is the food of the gods.  On the other, it will clog your arteries, and kill you.  Google can&#039;t kill you, but it can&#039;t feed your tummy either.  It&#039;s a tough call.

I&#039;d have to go with bacon on this one.</description>

you have the excellent image magick on unix environment, it&#039;s command line and excellent. You can script it to apply to a whole directory ! And last time I checked, there was a windows version...
You can resize and convert, and do a lot of many other things !!!!
